Neurodivergence, a family of 5, and that’s before the chaos really starts. This is how I’m building my way out.

I’m Rob. My husband and I and our three boys live on Yarbrough Drive, so we’re the YarBros. There’s a lot going on in our lives, and my AuDHD doesn’t make it easier. I get a fixed amount of attention and energy in a day and our lives burn through it fast. Now I’m using my product skills and Claude’s coding skills to build the tools to make it easier.

By day I’m a senior product manager putting AI agents on live PayPal calls, and I’m open to senior and principal IC roles — here’s my work →

Holding the week in my head is hard

I was diagnosed autistic in early 2025 long after knowing about my ADHD. It gave me a lens on things I had struggled with my whole life and assumed other people were simply better at. I had language for it, finally. No amount of “break the task down” or “get a planner and some discipline” was going to survive contact with how my brain actually works. What does work is spending the day on the things I am good at and getting the remembering and the routine off my plate.

The diagnosis and AI coding tools arrived at the same time. That combination is what made bespoke software practical: tools that do the boring parts of the week for one household, and do not get bored, tired, or overwhelmed. They just execute. None of these apps started as a product idea. They started as an accommodation that frees me. I’m writing the journey down for other neurodivergent people who might build the same kind of thing for their own week.

  • I knew those engineers weren't just eating my pizza

My test suite was eating my GitHub budget and my evenings, and it took a friend, a 4 a.m. lesson, and one very Claud-erican wave report to find out why.

  • AI was just the octane

I brought an idea I'd been building in my head for months into a room that had every reason to think I'd generated it that morning.
